I love Mexican food but I hate how crappy I feel afterwards. I seriously avoid eating it because I don't want to take a 5 hour mid-day nap when I'm done. However at Gracias Madre, I felt great afterwards and I don't know if it's the smaller portion size or the great quality of the food (I think its all vegetarian or vegan). It was delicious too. Plus its across the street from Mission Burger. So if you have any vegetarian friends you can take them there while you eat burgers.

Oh YUM. I'm not a huge fan of vegan food - in part because I don't like the kumbaya vibe of most of those places ("No, I don't want to hear the question of the day..."). But Gracias Madre manages to avoid the platitudes and attitude, and just serves up great food in a place where you'd actually want to hang out and linger. The restaurant is huge and has a bar-like feel to it (not dive bar). Try the taco trio. ...Read full review >
